FAQ
PRINTS
What is a Giclée print?
Giclée prints are renowned for their quality and extreme longevity, which is why they’re displayed in museums, art galleries and private collections. For proper protection, consider a frame that is FSC certified and created from 100% acid-free materials. It keeps the artwork in mint condition across the years and ensures the colours stay true.
I have all my artworks printed by either Catch Prints in Utrecht or Chemistry Publishing in Leeuwarden. Both are known for excellent print quality and beautiful papers
What is a screen print ?
Screen prints are handmade prints, created by pushing ink through a fine mesh screen onto paper. Each colour is printed separately, layer by layer, which gives the final piece a tactile, vibrant quality you won’t find in digital printing. Because every layer is pulled by hand, no two prints are exactly the same — small variations make each work unique.
I print all my own screen prints at Kapitaal Utrecht, unless stated otherwise. Kapitaal is well-known for its craftsmanship and creative community. Each print is carefully made with durable inks on high-quality paper, ensuring strong colours and a lasting finish.
How do I take care of my print?
I carefully wrap my prints in protective acid-free tissue paper before putting them in sturdy cardboard envelopes or postal tubes. If yours is sent in a tube; try to avoid leaving it rolled for too long. To uncurl or flatten a print, carefully remove it from the postal tube whilst keeping it covered in the tissue paper. Lay it out on a clean, flat surface, image side up. With the tissue paper covering the print’s image, place some smooth, flat objects (like books) on the ends and middle of the print. Let your giclée print relax over-night and it should be nice and flat. Avoid uncurling it by rolling the print the opposite way to receiving it, as you can easily crease it if done incorrectly.
PAINTINGS
What materials do you use?
All my paintings are made with high-quality acrylic paints on canvas. Acrylic is a versatile and durable medium that allows for vibrant colours, strong contrasts, and lasting clarity. I work on professional-grade, gallery-wrapped canvases that are built to last.
Are your paintings original?
Yes — every painting is a one-of-a-kind original artwork. Unlike prints, there are no duplicates: each brushstroke, layer, and texture is unique to that canvas.
Do the paintings need framing?
All canvases are gallery wrapped, meaning the edges are painted and the work can be hung directly on the wall without a frame. However, you can choose to have the piece framed for extra protection or a specific aesthetic. If you do, I recommend using FSC-certified wood frames and acid-free materials.
How do I take care of my painting?
Acrylic paintings are very durable, but a few simple steps will help them stay in perfect condition:
Avoid direct sunlight for prolonged periods, to keep colours vibrant.
Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth — avoid sprays, water or chemicals.
Hang in a stable environment; extreme humidity or temperature changes can affect the canvas.
If needed, a professional framer can add a protective varnish or UV-filtered glass to further preserve the work.
SHIPPING
How long will it take for my order to arrive?
I personally manage your order, from packing them to waving them goodbye at the nearest postal office in Utrecht. From that moment I no longer have any control, so it then depends on the shipping service. As a guideline; orders within the Netherlands usually take about a week. European orders anywhere between 1 to 2 weeks, anywhere else in the world might take up to 3 weeks.
How is my order packed?
Prints will ship carefully wrapped in acid free tissue paper, rolled in a tube. Paintings will be bubble wrapped and will be shipped in their very own custom, hard cardboard box.
Can I see where my package is?
Yes, I use Track & Trace. Once your package is registered at the postal service you will be sent a code by email to follow your parcel.
What happens when your order is damaged or faulty?
If you accidentally received the wrong item or the wrong quantity I will cover shipping return or exchange charges. Unfortunately I cannot be held responsible or liable for any damage caused by careless handling by postmen, for packages that couldn't be delivered to your address for any reason, or for parcels that got lost along the way. In the latter case, I will do everything in my power to try and locate your print.
Do you offer pickup for locals?
I do! I have included an option for local pickup at my studio in Utrecht. If you’d like to come and pick up your print or painting just let me know and we’ll arrange a date to do so.
What are the shipping costs for prints?
I tried to keep this as simple as possible. Based on your location pick one of the following options at check out:
€ 0,00: for pickup in Utrecht (city centre)
€ 10,00: the Netherlands
€ 20,00: Rest of the world
What are the shipping costs for paintings?
I tried to keep this as simple as possible. Based on your location pick one of the following options at check out:
€ 0,00: for pickup in Utrecht (city centre)
€ 30,00: the Netherlands
€ 50,00: Rest of the world
Am I affected by Trumps tariffs?
In general art prints and paintings should be exempt from the tariffs implemented by the Orange Muppet as of august 2025. When shipping to the States I will do everything I can to deal with customs as best as I can. This means extensive documentation, correct HTS codes and invoices. My understanding is that there is still a slight change you’ll be hit with additional costs even if all is filled out correctly on my end.
As a workaround for printed goods I have added an option to have your print produced and shipped from within the United States. This means no customs, no additional fees but the print will, of course, not be signed or dated. You can choose this option at check out.
